Heat recovery ventilators (HRVs) are fresh air exchange appliances that take fresh air into a dwelling, clean and evenly circulate the fresh air and expel stale, polluted air while controlling humidity and minimizing heat loss/gain. The HRVs are identical except for the recovery core (heat exchanger). HRVs are used primarily in cold northern climates while ERVs are used in the middle and southern U.S. The HRV systems use centrifugal blowers to remove the stale indoor air. The incoming and outgoing air streams moving through the system capture and transfer the heat from one air stream to another, while passing through a patented set of exchange cores. The temperature level from the indoor air is retained and transferred to the new incoming fresh outdoor air before circulating throughout the house.
